RESIDENT ELIGIBILITY
Tulalip Affordable Rental Housing Program
The following criteria summarize the eligibility requirements for residency under the Tulalip Affordable Rental Policy. All applicants must meet these standards to qualify for housing. Verification of eligibility will be conducted by the Tulalip Housing & Community Development Department prior to lease approval.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

â–ª Tribal Enrollment

Applicant must be an enrolled Tulalip Tribal member and provide proof of enrollment.

Non-Tribal individuals are not eligible to lease under this program unless specifically authorized by the Tulalip Housing Department.
â–ª Age Requirement

Applicant must be 18 years of age or older or legally recognized as an adult.
â–ª Income Requirement

Applicant must have verifiable monthly income of at least three (3) times the monthly rent, unless this requirement is waived under an approved Tribal housing assistance program.

Income verification includes employment documentation, benefit statements, or other proof of consistent income.
â–ª Good Standing with the Tulalip Tribes

Applicant must be in good financial and legal standing with the Tulalip Tribes.

No outstanding debts, delinquent utility accounts, or prior lease violations may exist unless the applicant is current on a formal repayment agreement.
â–ª Complete Application

A fully completed and signed housing application must be submitted with all required documentation, including income verification, photo ID, and proof of enrollment.
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

â–ª Rental History Verification

Applicant must demonstrate a positive rental history free from repeated lease violations or evictions.

Applicants evicted from Tulalip housing within the past five (5) years are generally ineligible unless mitigating circumstances are approved.
â–ª Criminal Background Check

All adult household members are subject to background screening.

Applicants with a record of violent or drug-related criminal activity may be denied unless evidence of rehabilitation or program completion is provided.

Applicants (or household members) subject to lifetime sex offender registration are ineligible and no exceptions may be granted.
â–ª Household Composition & Occupancy Standards

The number of household members must be appropriate to the unit size in compliance with occupancy standards.

Overcrowding or unreported household members may result in denial or lease termination.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

Priority 1: Enrolled Tulalip Tribal members

Priority 2: Members of other federally recognized Tribes

Priority 3: Non-Native spouses or dependents of enrolled Tulalip members (if approved by the Housing Department)
â–ª Verification & Annual Review

Resident eligibility will be reviewed annually to confirm income, household composition, and compliance with lease terms.
â–ª Exceptions & Appeals

The Tulalip Housing Department or Housing Board may review requests for exceptions or appeals in cases of verified hardship or rehabilitation.
